After a newly bought clothes folding machine is used for a long time, its metal frames, guide rails and other parts are prone to rust. Rust not only makes the machine look ugly, but also affects its folding performance—sometimes the machine gets so stuck that it cannot be pushed at all. Throwing the machine away is a waste, though. Sanding the rust with sandpaper is tiring and likely to scratch the machine. Soaking the rusted parts in white vinegar also does not work, even after waiting for half a day. In the end, a dedicated rust remover turns out to be a hassle-free and effective solution.

There is no need to buy an expensive rust remover. Just choose a neutral one that is specially made for the machine, and avoid those with strong corrosiveness. Before using the rust remover, it is a must to unplug the folding machine, open the windows for ventilation, and put on gloves to prevent the chemical from touching the hands. Spray the rust remover directly on the rust spots and wait for 10 to 15 minutes to let it break down the rust layer slowly. During this period, wipe the rusted areas gently with a soft cloth, and the rust will come off along with the wiping.

After wiping off the rust, clean the areas that have been sprayed with the rust remover thoroughly with clean water, and then dry them with a dry cloth. Make sure there is no moisture left at all, otherwise the machine will rust again soon. Finally, apply a thin layer of anti-rust oil on the metal parts of the machine. In daily use, remember to wipe the folding machine clean after each use and keep it as dry as possible—this can reduce the chance of rusting. Compared with other methods, using a rust remover is easy to operate. It only takes dozens of minutes to make the folding machine work smoothly again, which is very suitable for people who do not want to put in much effort.
